Among the vineyards of Apano Meria
On the stone terraces of Apano Meria, the people of Syros cultivated vineyards for centuries. Climb to the top of the hill, in front of the small Catholic chapel of Saint Benedict, to discover the winemaking process from vine to glass, learning how local grape varieties, the slopes of the land, and the island’s light shape the character of each wine. The visit concludes with a tasting of small-batch wines, where the earth, the salt, and the light of Syros are captured in every sip. From the winery’s vantage point, the view across the surrounding Cycladic islands is breathtaking — and there, among stones, herbs, and vines, you realize that here wine is not just a product, but a living part of the island’s soul.
